The Municipal Chief Executive for the Sagnarigu Municipal Assembly, Hajia Mariam Iddrisu has advised residents in the area to quarantine relatives returning from Accra and Kumasi due to the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and following the President’s directive of a partial closure.
The MCE in statement admonished residents to allocate separate rooms to their relatives returning from Accra for them to be quarantined for the mandatory 14 days.
“The Sagnarigu Municipal Assembly wishes to ADVISE families in all communities to find separate rooms for any of their RELATIONS returning from Greater Accra and Ashanti Region to be quarantined for A PERIOD OF 14 DAYS.
During this period, strict Social Distancing should be applied with the Returnees” the statement stressed.
Only three regions have so far reported cases of the COVID-19, the Greater Accra, Ashanti and Upper West Regions from routine disease surveillance. One case has been confirmed in the Upper West Region.
To contain the spread of the deadly virus, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Friday announced a partial closure of Greater Accra and Greater Kumasi.
Hajia Mariam Iddrisu said the returnees from the two regions should not be allowed to mingle freely with anyone in their homes, adding they should be observed for any fever, cough, breathlessness, Sore throat, and runny nose.
“If the above signs and symptoms are found, a visit should be made to the nearest Health Facility for further advice and action or contact us on our emergency help lines 0244885597/0206222623/0240750024″ the MCE stated.
“If after the 2 weeks there are no signs and symptoms of the disease, then the Returnees can now move freely among the household members”.
“This advice should be taken very seriously to protect the relations of Returnees in particular and other community members at large” Hajia Mariam noted.
