The Minister for Business Development, Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Awal has disclosed that his Ministry through its National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) will this year disburse an amount of GH₵ 10million to 1,500 businesses in the five regions of the north.
According to the Honorable Minister, the Business Development Ministry for the past three years has financially supported over 2000 entrepreneurs in Northern Ghana to expand their businesses and also employ people.
“…last year alone, our ministry created 96,000 jobs across the country out of the support and training we gave businesses… for this year 2020, we will disburse not less than GH₵ 10million to support about 1,500 entrepreneurs in Northern Ghana in loans with a minimum of Gh₵10,000 and a maximum of Gh₵100,000 per person to expand their businesses and employ people”, Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Awal told the press in Tamale on Tuesday, March 10, 2020.
The Business Development Minister is on a week-long working visit to the Northern region to engage Chiefs, Women groups, Political party executives, the clergy and youth groups among others on the numerous policies of the Nana Addo NPP led administration and to call for four more years.
Dr. Ibrahim reiterating the need for Ghanaians to renew the mandate of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo come December 7 said the government for the last three years has laid a strong foundation and has stabilized the economy for massive growth and development, hence the need to give the government another term.
He, however, urged the people of northern Ghana to vote massively for the NPP for another four years. Adding the Akufo-Addo led administration has performed extremely well with policies like the Planting for Food and Jobs initiative, Free Senior High School, Student Entrepreneurship Initiative, One Village-One Dam and Presidential Business Support Programme and the declaration of this year as the year of roads. Dr. Awal noted northerners have benefitted more from the government with the policies being implemented, hence the need to consolidate the gains made in the first term.
Dr. Ibrahim observed his visit will also among other things accord him the opportunity to address some grievances in the party and strengthen unity at the grassroots level for victory 2020.
On his part, Mr Prince Imoro Andani, Board Chairman of Ghana Integrated Iron and Steel Development Corporation (GISDOE), who is on the tour with the Business Development Minister said there was the need for the people of Dagbon to show appreciation to the NPP Government for bringing a resolving the age-long Dagbon chieftaincy conflicts by giving it another four-year mandate. He noted most of the policies implemented by the NPP government are pro-poor and since poverty levels in the north are high, it means a lot of the people in Northern Ghana are beneficiaries of these policies, some of which he said needs time to materialize.
