Dr. Susana Alo Tia, a development worker has filed her nomination forms to contest the Walewale Constituency seat in the upcoming parliamentary primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). This took place at the Walewale Constituency office of the NPP in a calm atmosphere yesterday, Tuesday, February 18, 2020.
Speaking to North Star news, Dr. Susana outlined reasons why a woman of her caliber is fit to represent the NPP and the Walewale Constituency in parliament. She was however concerned about the low involvement of women in the governance of Ghana, especially Northern Ghana and she is poised at taking the bold step in bridging the gender gap in her constituency.
“If you look at the whole of Northern region, I’m talking of Northern region, North East region, Savannah region, Upper West Region, Upper East region, it’s sad to know that not even up to three women, we have Hon. Halima Mahama, the Local government and rural development minister who is also the MP for Nalerigu, we have one in NDC I think in Pusiga, and that is it for the whole of Northern Ghana”.
“For me, it’s a shame because God has given us the same abilities and qualities that could make us lead and lead better. As I speak, these two women are excelling when it comes to development, I mean there’s no match. So I really believe that if given the chance to serve the people of Walewale Constituency, I’m going to contribute positively to the development of the youth, of the women and every other person in the Constituency”, Dr. Susana stated.
She said she is willing to serve the people of Walewale Constituency with humility and bring governance to their doorsteps in order to encourage social governance for the people if given the mandate to serve, as a motto for her campaign says, “Humble Leadership for Development; She Wins, We Win.”
Dr. Susana is, however, assuring delegates of rooting for job opportunities for them if their power is vested on her to represent the party.
Dr. Susana Alo Tia is a native of Walewale, former Assemblymember for the Wulugu electoral area, a development worker, women empowerment and gender advocate who seeks to represent the people of Walewale constituency if given the mandate to represent the NPP in the upcoming parliamentary primaries.
North Star news understands that Dr. Susana Alo Tia is in the contest with six other contenders including the incumbent member of parliament for the Walewale Constituency.
