BACKGROUND
In the early Hours of Saturday 14th May,2022 Citizen Check International and it’s Media outlet, Citizen Check TV stormed the Fadama Cluster of Schools Astro Turf park to Participate in the much publicized and well branded 7th annual Chief Imam Ramadan Cup in a grand style.
The Team started their journey from Tema Community 1 where they gathered morale from fans and Sympathizers by motivating them to go for gold.Football enthusiasts well wishers of Citizen Check International joined the Convoy to escort the team to Fadama,venue for the tournament.
THE TOURNAMENT
The tournament, annually at the end of Ramadan as part of activities to mark the Eid, brings together youth from Zongo communities across the country.
Mr Tamimu Issah is the official Organizer for the Event. The competition is also in honour of the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, which highlights his acclaimed values of discipline, peace and togetherness, to inspire the youth
The competition, which started in 2015 with eight Zongo communities in Accra, has now grown into one of the biggest community football competitions in the country with 28 Zongo communities.
It was rather unfortunate the Citizen Check’s Dream to win this year’s Ramadan Cup was cut short by the Kasoa Zongo team when they found the back of the net twice before the final whistle, Making the scoreline Kasoa Zongo 2 – Citizen Check 0.
LORD RAMPA INTERVIEW
Speaking at the Sidelines of the event, Vice President of Citizen Check International Mr.Asante well known as Lord Rampa said they will learn from their mistakes and come back better prepared next year.
He praised the organizers and stakeholders for making the event a success.
He said “The wise One, His Eminence,National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Shaributu must be commended for sustaining the values of decipline, peace and togetherness ever since he became the leader of the Muslim community in Ghana”
Lord Rampa said “The great Leader is a precious gift to mankind especially the people of Ghana hence the need to preserve and protect His Legacies”.
Lord Rampa concluded by calling on other members of the Cleagy to emulate the wise initiatives of His Eminence by promoting the culture of tolerance and togetherness.
LAUNCH
Launching the 7th edition, the Sports Minister advised participating communities, especially the youth, not to see the tournament only as a means of recreation, but also a perfect platform for young players to showcase their talent to the watching world.
In view of this call, he advised the communities to give opportunities to young players who are looking for such national platforms to showcase their talent.
